BUFFALO

My father skiing during my birth
Taste of snot frozen to a wool scarf
Little log cabin incense burner
Little man me, locked in me space

Rochester, Eden, Elmira,
Mercy & coldness shall follow you
Rome, Water Valley, Chateauguay—
Jesus in snowy garments

Drifts we wormholed to labyrinth
Sparrows pecking at white crust—
They say the revolution failed
They say take what bread is given

Twenty-five years in the New South
Age & fog pool, the freeze locked inside
